Creative Critical Reflection

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product represents current issueswith Becketts clip of the Film. Beckett’s clip is used to represent a person that is not traditionally in sport or athletic. This represents an issue because some people believe that the Nike brand is only for athletic people and for people that are involved in sports. Beckett wearing Nikes represents that anybody could use the brand. No matter what sport or even if you are not involved in a sport, Nike can be convenient to you no matter what. Nike can be used for many reasons, for example, comfortable clothing, comfortable shoes, socks and accessories. The stereotype now in days is that brands like Adidas, Nike, Reebok are only for fit and athletic people, however that is not the case. These brands are just used for comfort and style no matter age.

  1. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Although Nike could be used for anybody even if not athletic, it does entertain the portion of society that is involved in athletics and sports. Audiences that traditionally use clothing, shoes that are made for comfort can engage them. Our commercial would be distributed as a commercial that you would see before watching a YouTube video, or before resuming back to your show. The music that is used can engage the older audiences since it is an oldie classic. Since there was a widespread of sports involved in the commercial, that can also engage people that are involved in those specific sports. For example, if someone that sees the commercial plays volleyball and see Kaya playing volleyball this will engage them more since it is something they are familiar with.

  1.
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

My production skills developed throughout project because it helped me learn how to think outside of the box. Even though that is a cliche saying, it truly is factual. This production taught me that you could always make something better if you think hard enough. When you put enough thought into something, the likelihood of it being greater than before is high. Thinking of the ways to make something better can expand your thought process and help you become better with your production skills. Trying to make this commercial the best of the best was the motivation that me and my group mates had. We were beyond passionate about this project and that helped our production skills.

  1. How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online- in this project?

My group and I had to explore different resources that we could use to edit our film. First offwe were just going to use an app on our phones to edit. However, when we thought more deeply, we figured out that using iMovie on my computer would be the best option. A piece of technology that we used was I movie. We also use a hardware product that was kind of like a tripod to film. This tripod stabilized our shots and helped them come out sleeker and sharper.
