Music Permission
In today's class, I searched for the background music to incorporate in our suspenseful final task film. I was searching on Youtube. I searched "suspenseful music for movies" I scrolled and found the perfect one. It was titled "Dark Ambient Melodies" I showed my groupmates and they liked it. The song was perfect. Like it was especially created for our project. All I need is permission from the company to use it. I go to the channel that produced the song and clicked on there "contact info". I scrolled down and I found an email. This song was perfect and so was the company. This is because in their description it stated "You are free to use our music for non-profit projects as long as you credit us properly and send us a message with a link to the project for approval, we are huge supporters of independent art".However, I still emailed them to make sure. In my email, I introduced myself. I also explained to them what it was that I was doing and why I needed their song. This company is very popular, they have over 300k followers. I am not expected an email back. However, since that statement was in their description I should be fine. I also found another song I liked on youtube. It was similar to this one in many ways. But, unfortunately the producers did not have their email attached. They also did not have any statements saying that I could use their song. Therefore, I played it safe with going with the second option.
